Tax relief on donations is a national scheme. UK Gift Aid, Denmark’s deduction for gifts and Italy’s relief for donations to Third Sector bodies each work differently, so the Taxes menu shows only the screens for your organisation’s own country.
Your home country decides what you see
The country is the Home country (legal jurisdiction) in Settings → Organisation, under Country & Currency. See Configure organisation settings, including who can change it.
| Home country | Taxes menu shows | Where Taxes takes you |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom, or not set | Gift Aid and Declarations | The Gift Aid dashboard |
| Denmark | Tax-deductible gifts | The SKAT gift report screen |
| Italy | Donation tax relief | The Italy screen, which is not yet available |
| Any other country | Overview | A Tax-efficient giving notice |
Beehives with no home country set are treated as UK, because Gift Aid was available to every beehive before countries were introduced.
Another country’s screens are hidden from the menu, and more than that: opening one by its address returns you to your own country’s screen. A Danish beehive can’t reach a Gift Aid claim, and a UK beehive can’t reach the SKAT report.
Changing the home country changes which screens appear. Records already created under the previous country’s scheme, such as Gift Aid declarations and claims or SKAT files, are not deleted, but you won’t see their screens while a different country is set. Check with your team before changing it.
United Kingdom: Gift Aid
Record donors’ declarations, build batch claims for a UK tax year, download the HMRC schedule and record what happens after you submit it. ThirdSectorBee doesn’t submit claims to HMRC for you.
Denmark: tax-deductible gifts
The Tax-deductible gifts screen, subtitled Denmark — deduction for gifts (ligningsloven § 8 A), generates the file you upload to Skattestyrelsen (SKAT) reporting each donor’s deductible gifts by CPR number, and keeps a record of every file. See Report Danish gifts to SKAT.
Italy: donation tax relief
The Donation tax relief screen exists but the scheme isn’t supported yet. See Italy: donation tax relief for exactly what it shows.
Other countries
The Overview item opens a page titled Tax-efficient giving, which says the Taxes module doesn’t yet support tax-efficient giving schemes for your country, and that the scheme shown follows your home country in Settings → Organisation. If the country named there is wrong, correct your home country.
What counts as a gift
For both Gift Aid claims and the SKAT report, whether a payment counts depends partly on its allocation type. See What counts as a gift.
