Add a contact to a sponsorship programme
When you’re already looking at someone’s contact record, you can add them to a sponsorship programme from there. They start as a draft sponsorship opportunity, ready for their profile and consent.
Before you start
- You need
sponsorship:read:opportunitiesandsponsorship:write:opportunities, and your beehive needs the Beneficiary Sponsorship module. Without these, the Sponsorship card doesn’t appear on the contact’s profile. - Only programmes that are configured and not completed or archived are offered.
- Make sure the person, or someone responsible for them, has agreed to take part before you add them.
Add the contact
- Open the contact’s profile. See Create and edit contacts.
- On the Sponsorship card, choose Add to sponsorship programme.
- Choose the Programme.
- If the programme sponsors individuals who belong to a group, choose their Group too.
- Optionally enter a Field partner reference (optional). It’s never shown to sponsors.
- Choose Add.
You’ll see Sponsorship opportunity added. It may take a moment to appear in the list. If the contact is already in that programme, you’ll see That subject already has a sponsorship opportunity in this programme, so nothing new was added.
What happens next
The new sponsorship opportunity is a Draft in the programme. Open it from the programme’s Sponsorship opportunities tab to write the profile, record consent and submit it for review.
If something goes wrong
- No sponsorship programme can take sponsorship opportunities yet.: no programme is both configured and open. See Configure a sponsorship programme.
- This programme sponsors groups, not individuals, so a person can’t be added to it.: choose a different programme, or add the person’s group from the programme’s Groups tab.
- Choose a programme.: select a programme before choosing Add.
