Review a funder report
A funder report pulls a programme’s impact framework together with your written narrative, so you can tell a funder what their money achieved. This page explains what a funder report contains, how to edit its narrative and what you can do today.
Before you start
- You need
impact:read:outcomesandprogrammes:read:programmesto view a report. - To edit the narrative you also need
impact:write:outcomes. Without it the report opens read-only and there’s no Save Narrative button.
How you reach a report
Each report has its own link, made up of the programme and the report: /programmes/<programme>/impact/report/<report>. There’s no list of reports in the app and no button to generate one, so you’ll reach a report from a link a colleague or an integration has shared with you.
Known limitation: Funder reports can’t currently be generated or opened. The report service isn’t available yet, so opening a report link shows Failed to load funder report. Prepare funder reports outside ThirdSectorBee for now, using the figures on the programme’s Impact tab.
What a report contains
When a report opens, it shows:
| Part | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Funder Report heading and status | Draft or Finalised |
| Summary panel | The programme’s Framework Type (Logic Model, Outcomes Star or Custom) and when the report was generated |
| Narrative Sections | One text box per section, headed with the section’s name |
Edit the narrative
- Open the report link.
- Under Narrative Sections, write or update the text in each section.
- Choose Save Narrative.
You’ll see Narrative saved successfully. If you see Failed to save report narrative., your text wasn’t saved: copy it somewhere safe before leaving the page, then try again.
You can edit only the sections the report already has. There are no controls for adding a section, finalising a report or exporting it. If a report has no sections you’ll see No funder reports have been generated.
Writing for funders
Describe what changed for people as well as what you delivered. When you quote a figure from ThirdSectorBee, say what it counts: see How impact measurement works.
