Organisations are the bodies you work with: companies, grant-making trusts, churches, schools and partner charities. An organisation record brings together its people, the money it has given and your partnership history.
Before you start
Viewing organisations needs relationships:read:contacts; creating and changing them needs relationships:write:contacts. The Financials card also needs relationships:read:fundraisingactivities.
Add an organisation
- Open Relationships → Organisations and choose New organisation.
- Enter the Name.
- Choose at least one subtype.
- Optionally search for the Registered address, or fill it in manually.
- Under Registrations, choose Add registration for each registration number. Pick a Description of Company Number, Membership Number or Other (free text) (then enter a Custom description, such as “VAT number” or “Charity number”), and enter the Registration value.
- Optionally search for contacts under Connections and choose how each is connected.
- Choose Create organisation.
The organisation can take a moment to appear in the list. To find it later, type at least two characters of its name on Find an organisation.

Things you can’t do from the profile
There’s no edit form for an organisation’s name, registered address or registrations once it’s created, and no delete button. Creating a second record isn’t a way to correct one: it splits the organisation’s history across two records.
