Segments combine conditions in groups set to All conditions (AND) or Any condition (OR). Nested groups can use their own logic, so a segment can express A AND (B OR C).

Conditions

Direct rules cover contact details, classifications, consent channels, linked organisations, giving and engagement summaries, tags and configured custom fields. Record blocks (Payment record…, Touchpoint record…, Touchpoint activity… and Membership record…) choose whether the most recent record or any ever satisfies the block’s rules. Group rules within a record block when several criteria must apply to the same payment, touchpoint or membership. Membership blocks only match memberships you have access to. Tag rules use has the tag or does not have the tag.

Custom-field operators vary by the field’s configured data type; use the choices offered in the builder. A type or channel list is a membership test, not a substring search.

Consent channel conditions match an opted-in channel under any purpose. They are not a purpose-specific authorisation to send a particular campaign. Review the intended purpose before communicating.
